Grow a Farmer

This Thursday July 16th at One Market Restaurant they are holding the Grand Opening of the Penthouse at One Market, a private dining and event destination, as a fundraiser for the UC Santa Cruz Grow-A-Farmer campaign.
The campaign, which raises money to build permanent housing at the UC Farm & Garden for their apprenticeship participants. The event will include tastes from One Market Restaurant Chef Mark Dommen, incorporating produce raised by alumnus of the UC Farm & Garden program. Following are just a few of the alumni who will attend and set up stations with dishes made from their produce:
Everett Family Farm (Leon Vehaba, farmer)
Abounding Harvest Farm (Danield Paduano, farmer)
UC Santa Cruz Farm (lots of farmers!)
Pie Ranch (Nancy Vail and Jered Lawson, farmers)
Blue House Farm (Ryan Casey and Ned Conwell, farmers)
Oso Velloso Farm (Kurt Christiansen, farmer)
Freewheelin’ Farm (Kirstin Yogg, Daryl Wong, and Amy Courtney, farmers)
Petaluma Bounty Farm (Amy Rice-Jones, farmer)
Dirty Girl Farm (Joe Schirmer, farmer)
Thursday, July 16th 5:30pm–8pm

Thanks for this heads up, Marcia. I’ve been working with the campaign since January: best thing ever.
I won’t be up there for this event, but I truly hope you don’t miss it. And hey, you can schmooze with farmers.
The menu is posted on the Grow a Farmer website, and there is wine AND a martini bar.
