By Napa Valley Wine Train Promotions & Partnership Manager Andrea Guzman

Car free travel is a passion of mine. In my wanderings, I am constantly looking for ways to utilize public transportation. I know that other travelers like myself, refuse to rent a car, especially in large metropolitan cities like San Francisco.

The Napa Valley Wine Train, by its nature, supports car-free travel. Recently, the Train created an opportunity for people to travel from San Francisco to Napa Valley without using a car! We have partnered with Platypus Tours to transport guests by motor coach from the Ferry Terminal in Vallejo to the Wine Train Station in Napa. It is now possible to get to Napa from San Francisco by Ferry and private bus. No need for a car or negotiating additional public transportation schedules.

Our guests take the 8:10 a.m. ferry from SF, paying for the Vallejo Ferry link pass at Pier 1, by the Ferry Building. Once they get into Vallejo, a very courteous driver from Platypus Tours escorts them to the Napa Valley Wine Train station. Our travelers will have a chance to shop at the Oxbow Public Market, or downtown Napa, and Wine Train shops before and after an amazing gourmet lunch on the Napa Valley Wine Train. At 4:45 p.m., Platypus Tours picks up the guests and helps them board the 5:35 ferry back to San Francisco.

The cost to travel directly to and from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal is a very reasonable $15 per person, round trip. All aboard!

Annabelle’s is proud to announce our Green Certification by the city of San Francisco. We strive to use only organic produce and meats and fish raised in sustainable environments. We will maintain our commitment to decreasing our footprint by seeking out new solutions to waste reduction, including water, energy and material waste. We use compostable straws and ‘to go’ products as well as office paper products with post consumer recycled content. We divert nearly 80% of our waste to compost and recycling, alleviating the burden on our landfills and we will continue to strive to increase our waste diversion.

Annabelle’s is conveniently located at 68 Fourth St between Market and Mission Streets. We serve California Cuisine with a focus on local, organic, sustainably raised ingredients. We are open daily from 11:30am until 1:30am. Dinner served until 10:30pm, bar menu served until 12:30am.

Next time you’re downtown stop by for a drink or a bite to eat at a restaurant that cares as much as you do.

From roots of imagination, creativity and beauty, you will find the essence of Paula LeDuc Fine Catering. Innovation has always been at the core of Paula’s vision for her company and today Paula LeDuc Fine Catering pushes the boundaries of what is possible, creating a unique and unforgettable event for each client and their guests.

Today innovation means creating events that last in our clients minds but do not have a lasting impact on the environment. With an eye to environmental responsibility we have examined all aspects of our operations and taken measures to embrace an eco-conscious approach to business.

  • We focus on locally and sustainably produced meats, produce, and wines
  • We partner with environmentally like-minded suppliers
  • We offer carbon off-sets to our clients through the Climate Trust
  • We partner with Food Runners to donate food at the end of every event
  • While these are just a few of the event related examples of our efforts to go green our greatest effort has been to become a green certified business. Our application is pending with the County of Alameda’s Green Certification Program. Once awarded we will be the one of the few certified green caterers in Northern California. This is the testament to our effort and commitment to being a responsible business and conscious stewards of the earth.

White House Inn & Spa – Napa’s first historic yet ‘Green’ hotel0 Comments

Napa’s first historic yet ‘Green’ hotel, The White House Inn is committed to sustainable policies and ”green” practices. Our renovation, specifically, was carefully executed to include many environmentally conscious choices such as, paint products with no VOC’s sustainable choices such as cork flooring and natural fiber yet quite lush-towels.

Many other products and purchases incorporate recycled materials as well. We invested in a complete overhaul of the HVAC system–The newly installed Daikin individual room units not only provide guests with complete temperature control for their own guest room, but the units are energy efficient and thus more environmentally friendly.
