Bus tours are a great way to see the city – unless you object to adding pollution to the city and paying extra for skyrocketing diesel prices. San Francisco Electric Tour Company offers tourists (and locals) a green alternative: Segway sightseeing.
A zero-emissions vehicle, the Segway i2 travels 24 miles on a 10-cent battery charge, which translates into very little impact on the environment. These popular, electric-powered transportation marvels have been attracting visitors since 2004, when the tour company was founded.
In addition to being kind to the environment, Segway tours provide visitors with a memorable, hands-on experience of San Francisco or Sausalito. Easy to learn and fun to ride, Segways are ideal for families, groups, and individuals seeking a safe, innovative touring experience. Just about anybody can learn to ride one, as long as they meet certain height and weight requirements. Segways easily navigate the hills of San Francisco in a way no bus can match.
This sightseeing method is a sterling example of how green alternatives don’t translate into a lesser or compromised experience. These tours are fun, offer an unparalleled experience of the areas they serve, and as gas prices have risen, offer increasingly excellent value for the price.
San Francisco Electric Tour Company offers fully narrated tours covering 7-8 miles in 2 hours, with stops for photographs. Fun Rider training takes about 40 minutes.

Mission Bay Conference Center believes in having a commitment to protecting and improving the environment. We believe in fostering new connections from field to fork and changing the culture of food by nourishing our guests with menus that emphasize fresh whole foods that are raised, grown, harvested and produced locally and/or sustainably wherever possible. We view the responsible management of waste as a requirement to sustain and restore our natural resources as well as the communities in which we serve. We also consider the environmental impacts of our purchasing practices and how we operate our business every day. We seek to purchase and use environmentally preferable products and services, and recognize suppliers who reduce environmental impacts in their production and distribution systems or services.
As part of our ongoing efforts, here is a list of the things the Mission Bay Conference Center is doing in order to create a healthier environment inside UCSF and beyond.
• Recycling and Composting

We believe Fior d’ Italia was the first restaurant in SF to recycle (started about 60 years ago). We were green before green was cool. We still recycle glass, cans, paper and oil among other things. We try to use as many environmentally safe or organic products from paper, to foods to chemicals we use to clean and wash. As do most businesses we are restricting use of water, gas and power.

Before man evolved people used to print posters, mount them to foam core boards and ship them to their meeting or presentation. Now, business visitors who are concerned with the environment can FTP their digital files to BPS Reprographics. We can print them directly to recycled boards with inks that have no VOC’s. After the presentation give us a call. We will come pick up the boards and recycle them for you. That’s not greenwash, that’s real change. Change you can believe in.

We have been a “green” tour since the beginning by using public transportation and our feet to explore. The tour is owned and operated by “locals” which makes it a very unique and personal experience for our customers. Complete information about the tour can be found online at: http://www.victorianwalk.com
