Extranomical Adventures Going Green0 Comments

We all need to open our eyes to the problems facing the environment and understand that it is our responsibility to do something about it. Being a part of the travel and tourism industry, Extranomical Adventures knows that we face a particular responsibility to our community and our environment and that every seemingly small thing we do can have a lasting impact on our delicate planet. That’s why we at Extranomical have partnered with “Verus Carbon Neutral”, to help fund projects devoted to helping the earth by neutralizing our CO2 emissions. Their projects include preventing deforestation and planting trees, which are some of the simplest and most important things we can do to help the world around us remain a lush and habitable place. Extranomical Adventures is helping to sustain a healthy planet by supporting clean energy development and offsetting our CO2 emissions. Carbon offsets basically enable us to help neutralize the carbon dioxide that the tour vehicle generates by funding programs somewhere else in the world that take CO2 out of the atmosphere. Based on the number of tours we do and how far we drive, we have come up with a way of measuring our impact to the atmosphere and, starting in 2009, our entire fleet is certified as carbon neutral! A portion of everyone’s purchase of an Extranomical tour will go towards these projects devoted to neutralizing our carbon footprint.

SFO is launching the nation’s first Green Rental Car program that rewards customers for renting
“green” alternative-fueled vehicles.

Customers who rent hybrid cars at SFO, such as the Honda Civic Hybrid, Nissan Altima Hybrid or Toyota PRIUS will receive a
$15 discount at the counter.

It is estimated that more than 4,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year will be eliminated through the implementation of this program.

Currently, 10 percent of the rental car fleet at SFO is comprised of high-mileage cars—such as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Ford Focus—in addition to alternative-fuel cars. By offering these incentives to customers and rental car companies, SFO hopes to increase the total number of these cars to greater than 15 percent.
